1 Day Mikumi National Park Safari

This 1 Day Mikumi National Park Safari itinerary is created for people who do not have enough time to go on a Tanzania safari for several days. A day-trip safari in Tanzania can be spectacular, leaving you with memories to last a lifetime. This tour is brief, but it provides an opportunity to see the Big Four, which are most easily accessible from Dar es Salaam. It is surrounded by the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the south-east. To name a few, Mikumi is home to buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons, zebras, leopards, crocodiles, and many more.

Pick up from the airport or hotel at 5:00 a.m. and drive to Mikumi National Park. Upon arrival, you begin with a game drive and then stop for lunch. After lunch, you resume your game drive. You will be driven back to Dar es Salaam at 16:00 hrs. and dropped off at your hotel or airport for your late-night journey.

One of the best things to do in Morogoro is to visit Mikumi National Park, which will allow you to fully appreciate the wildlife, nature, and terrain. This tour can depart on any day and can be booked for an individual or group safari. We recommend leaving early in the morning (5 a.m.) because there is a chance to see a lot before the sun gets too hot and the animals seek shade.

1 DAY MIKUMI NATIONAL PARK TOUR: ITINERARY

Driving from Morogoro to Mikumi National Park takes around 1 hour, 30 minutes to the park’s border, and 30 minutes to the park’s entrance gate. While from Dar es Salaam takes about 3 hours.

When you arrive, you will register to obtain a permit for the game drive; registration takes around 15 minutes (depending on the number of participants), so the game drive will begin around 8 a.m.

The game drive will continue until 10 a.m., when we will stop for breakfast. After breakfast, you will continue with the game drive until 1 p.m., when you will go for lunch and rest a little (there is not much to see at this time due to the sun).

1 Day Mikumi National Park Safari — Mikumi National Park

After lunch and a short break, you will embark on a short game drive (approximately 1 hour) before returning to Morogoro/ Dar es Salaam around 5:30 p.m., bringing the Mikumi day trip tour to a close.

This itinerary can be adjusted to a two-day safari that includes a visit to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, which is ideal for a day hike and leads to one of Tanzania’s most famous waterfalls (Sanje Falls).
